Questions & Answers

What should I expect at my first session?

We'll start with a conversation - I'll ask about what's bringing you in, your health history, and what you're hoping to feel or shift. From there, treatment might include acupuncture, tuina, cupping, gua sha, or moxibustion, depending on what feels right for you that day. Sessions are calm and unhurried; there's no need to know exactly what you need before you arrive.

How should I prepare?

Eat a light meal beforehand, if you can. Treatment on a completely empty stomach can sometimes feel uncomfortable. Come as you are; there's nothing special you need to do to get ready, but if you have any recent medical history, medications, or specific concerns, it sometimes helps to jot them down beforehand.

How will I feel afterward?

Most people feel calm, relaxed, and sometimes pleasantly tired - a bit like after a good stretch or a deep rest. Some notice effects right away; for others, the shift is more gradual over the following day or two. It's normal to feel a little different each time, depending on what your body needed that day.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies by person and what you're working on. Some people come for a single reset; others, especially with ongoing conditions, find a rhythm of regular visits more supportive over time. I'll always be honest with you about what I'm seeing, rather than recommending more than you need.

What should I wear or bring?

Comfortable, loose clothing works best, since I'll need access to areas like your arms, legs, or back depending on the treatment. If you're coming for a Movement + Acupuncture session, feel free to bring a change of clothes for the movement portion. No need to bring anything else - just yourself.

How does the sliding scale work?

Acupuncture sessions are priced between $140 and $240, and you're welcome to choose whatever feels right for you within that range - no explanation needed. The suggested rate is $180; if you're able to pay above that, it helps make care accessible to those who need the lower end of the scale. And if even the lower end is out of reach right now, please reach out directly. No one is turned away for lack of funds.

Why isn't there online booking?

I'd rather hear from you directly than have you press a button. Reach out by email, text, or call - whatever feels easiest - and I'll get back to you personally to find the right time. This also lets me make sure the space and time truly work before confirming anything.

What are your credentials?

I'm a Doctor of Acupuncture, NYS & VT licensed acupuncturist, and NCBAHM Diplomate, with a Master's in Acupuncture from Pacific College of Health & Science. I'm also a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Advisor, a 500-hour Advanced Yoga teacher, a licensed GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS® instructor, and a Comprehensive Pilates instructor.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to reschedule or cancel, so I can offer that time to someone else who may need it. Thank you for understanding.
