ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is an ancient healing art that is based on the insertion of hair-fine, sterile, and single-use needles placed in specific acupuncture points to enhance the body's natural state of homeostasis, and relieve symptoms of disease.

Energy (Qi) is constantly moving through the body, and we can think of blood being a thicker form of this energy. When energy circulates properly, then the body can enjoy a pain-free (in the mental, emotional or spiritual axis) state of existence. However when it gets blocked or depleted, then it can cause disregulation and disease. Pain can be translated as stagnant energy and blood. During treatment, as an acupuncture needle is inserted, the brain receives a signal to send blood to the insertion point to investigate the area, boosting not only blood but also oxygen and mineral circulation to the point of insertion and to other areas that may help the body recover. The ripple effect that the acupuncture needle can cause within the body can stimulate and accelerate the healing process.

Ultimately, acupuncture is not just a mean to treat a “dis-order.” But a way to reframe our relationship towards health. A balancing act that not only prevents the generation of “painful red flags,” but also supports the self to experience a more fulfilling existence. Seeking care prior and not when something is already “broken.”

"The sages did not treat those already ill, but treated those not yet ill. They did not govern what was already in disorder, but what was not yet in dis- order.. Now, when drugs are employed for therapy only after a disease has become fully developed, when attempts at restoring order are initiated only after disorder has fully developed, this is as if a well were dug when one is thirsty, and as if weapons were cast when the fight is on. Would this not be too late too?"
